Our History

LF Systems was founded in 1983 with a single opportunity and a strong foundation in relationships. Our president, Gerard Holmes, received his first client through his father, a retiring salesman from DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware. In the early years, Gerard worked side by side with his father, learning the fundamentals of laboratory casework, construction coordination, and hands-on project management. That experience established the principles the company still operates on today: trust, accountability, and a commitment to doing the job right.

As LF Systems evolved, it became clear that many large OEM manufacturers lacked the responsiveness and attention to detail required for successful lab furniture installations and renovations. Projects were often treated as transactions rather than partnerships. LF Systems took a different approach—building a business around local expertise, proactive problem-solving, and long-term client relationships. By focusing on service, coordination, and execution, we positioned ourselves not just as a supplier, but as a reliable partner throughout the life of a project.

Over the past four decades, LF Systems has grown from a small, family-rooted operation into a trusted regional provider of laboratory furniture and fume hood solutions. Today, we are a proud partner of ICI Scientific, supporting projects across a wide range of industries including healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, and higher education.

While our capabilities, reach, and resources have expanded, our core philosophy remains unchanged. We continue to operate with the same hands-on approach and commitment to service that defined our earliest projects—delivering high-quality laboratory environments, building lasting relationships, and supporting our clients long after installation is complete.
